7-10 Business Day Delivery? DOES NOT EXIST!!

I ordered a fridge on the 31st, from AJ Madison, and specifically asked about the delivery time and was told 7-10 business days. It shipped on the 1st....or so the email stated. I waited one week and kept checking the tracking number to see the status had not changed. I called their Customer Service # and got Debra who was a "manager" and was told that they were sure it had left the Home Direct Facility and did not know why their system was not updating. She assured me I would be getting it within that time frame stated. I called Home Direct and got a really nice guy who told me the TRUTH. The truth is the refrigerator was sitting in the JFK Metro facility and had been sitting there for 5 days. It would not be leaving to come to Salt Lake till next week and they expected it to arrive on Feb 20th, at their storage facility, and then probably several days to deliver to my house. I currently do not having a working refrigerator and the time element is crucial and was the reason I placed the order. I could not buy this model locally, or I would have. I have size limitations in a small home. AJ Madison makes promises they do not keep. AJ Madison tells you only what you want to hear. AJ Madison will not give REFUNDS!!! Reality....I might have my fridge on Feb 22-24th...but probably not by looking at the hundreds and hundreds of complaints on BBB and the ones here. I have no refrigerator and no way to keep food. Thinking about stop payment on my credit card. I have no way to complain to a higher authority because they will not let you transfer out of the customer service area.

Dishwasher damaged; took the return and kept my money! Stay away from AJ Madison!!

I ordered a dishwasher online. Somehow I knew when I pressed enter that this was going to be a bad experience; I just knew it. Arrived damaged. After calling CS they only offered 15% off or send a new panel (which I would have to have installed at my cost) Not acceptable. They gave me the run around for months stating that since I filed a chargeback with my cc company and it was paid for via paypal, these channels would have to be cleared first. Need I remind anyone that once they shipped the item they were paid! So they had their money. They played this game for months. Finally after I exhausted conversations with my cc company and paypal, I decided to file a BBB claim. This helped move things along, but they appear to be holding onto the money STILL. They have to request to belong to the BBB and need to abide by their rules. AJM has bent them and bent them and bent them. AJM called me and told me that my money was going to be released because paypal finally did something that allowed the money to be released. I just called; same game. Well I'm on it. Same *** different day!

NEVER AGAIN

Was lured in by low prices and free shipping. Living on the west coast, I was a little worried about purchasing from an retailer based in NY. However, I planned ahead and ordered early. Almost 6 weeks later and I still don't know when I'm going to get my high-end gas range! Sporadic updates from customer service. AJ Madison is placing blame on the weather and the shipper. They offer little to now assistance. LESSONS LEARNED: 1) Buy local, and 2) Do WAY more research before this kind of purchase, and 3) never recommend or give AJ Madison any business!

Sold a damaged microwave as new and will not exchange/refund

STAY AWAY as they sell damaged goods as NEW. Do not order a product from this company as they will not exchange or refund your purchase. They are a classic NY Bait & Switch company. They will not exchange/refund and we have filled complaints against them and will continue to do so. This is a classic bait and switch company. There are so many complaints on BBB and Yelp and other websites it is amazing. IT is also a good lesson to research all places before you buy. Typical NYC shisters. The good thing is that the internet helps spread the truth about companies like this in a relatively easy manner.

Bad dishwasher - no satisfaction

Received a delivery of four appliances which appeared to be in good condition. It was 30 days before I was unable to install the Kitchenaid dishwasher when I noticed that the bottom of the unit was slightly bent, preventing proper installation. I corresponded very nicely with the customer service rep from AJ Madison who seemed helpful. The next day I received an email where they flatly refused to replace the product. Never again. Do yourself a favor and shop at your local PV Richard or even Sears for that matter. They are much more concerned with your repeat business than this vendor

Not consumer friendly at all

We ordered an extraction hood and the remote that goes with it. Unfortunately the remote didn't show up for three months when it did it didn't work. They would not take it back because they said 30 days had gone by, they failed to accept any responsibility as during the 30 days they had us running rings, "call the manufacturer", "try some different batteries". Stalling for time until 30 days past. Now we had a dead remote for almost $100 that never worked from day one. I hope the $100 was worth it for them, I will continue to let everyone know how they handled it.

so true, i place an order an wait full 30 days to be deliver a product that they have in stock because texas is a remote are?, i have buy things from canada that arrive in les than a week.........the costumer service scream at me because i want to cancel.....this company sucks :(

I wish I would have done more research on this company

Ordered a NXR gas range which arrived (a month later) with an internal gas leak that was undetectable on physical inspection. I have contacted them several times and have received no reply....stay FAR AWAY from AJ Madison! You may think you are saving $$$ but trust me, you will regret using this vendor. I wish I would have researched them more before purchasing as they have a long internet history of lousy products, customer service, and delayed delivery times. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more time researching them then I did. You will thank yourself for it.

Sent wrong appliance outrageous return policy

AJ Madison sent us the wrong dryer. This is a ventless dryer the Cost 998.10. They sent us a european model whic works on 220 volts not the american 110. When we complained they told us their contract with us required us to pay for shipping, restocking fee and insurance. Stay away from this company even though their prices may be somewhat lower they won't stand behind you and aren't interested in service. Their customer service is cold and indifferent. I would warn anyone who thought about using this company to go some where else. I've been protesting this through american express but, found out they've already paid the vendor

Installation Scam

We ordered double wall oven and were told that it was direct replacement of our older unit. Paid for delivery and installation. When the installers showed up the new oven happened to be 1/4" wider then older one. The installers said that all they do is connect the wires (that's what $150 will get you). They refused to do any cutting and left. They also comment that there are a lot of customers with the same situation. So, it's clear that AJ Madison is running a scam to give people false confidence that it's a hassle free purchase (when you pay for all the services), but when you come home you'll find yourself battling the installation yourself or call 3rd party to do it for you. I'm very unhappy with the experience.

Paid top dollar for Viking professional design induction range, The range arrived with a hairline crack on the glass surfaced cooktop. Therefore, range would not turn on.

It took months of calling, emailing,and writing registerd letters before anyone would even listen to us, Then they told us some *** about how the crack was not there when it was shipped, despite it having been in a sealed box, and them having no way of knowing whether or not it was in factory condition.

Finally had to serve papers threatening a law suit to recover cost of range and shipping charges. Bottom line, avoid this company and purchase all of your appliances from local vendors!

Stay away from AJ

Wish I'd read this website BEFORE I plunked down my $8000 for a new stove from AJ Madison. Stove arrived seriously damaged. AJ Madison took no action until I filed BBB and Attorney General complaints. I got my new stove, but it took more than two months. The M.O. is always the same. If you have a problem, this company simply does not respond. I'm not sure how they manage to stay in business. I found myself contacting the manufacturer, distributer and shipper on my own. I finally got them all to work together to get a replacement, but I'll never go NEAR AJ Madison again.

Damaged appliances

Box intact cooktop badly damaged and ajmadison would not take responsibility. Many other similar complaints on line. Strongly suspect they are buying seconds repacking them and selling as new. I will consider a formal complaint with the law in New York. Contacted costumer service and they were rude and difficult. Only after I persisted and threatened to report them to everyone I could on line did they respond at all. I dont recommend them and feel 60 minutes should be doing one of their specials on this scam. I see multiple others with similar complaints. Damaged good arivving in intact packages.

Horrible return policy and service

I had ordered 4 appliances from AJ Madison. It took so much longer(three weeks, verses the one week to ten days)to arrive.

Once it arrived at the warehouse for delivery, that was another nightmare. I had to call them daily and actually get person (because the mailbox was full) to get a date and time for delivery. Then the microwave was too big for my space and it was going to cost me $200.00 to return it when the entire microwave only cost $254.00.

This does not make sense to me, but the lady on the phone said she is going to convince me(yes, those were the words used , convince me) that this makes perfect sense!!! I will give it away before I give it to them.

Thinking of ordering a major appliance, but forget it!!!

Contacted the sales department with a couple of questions about a major appliance that I was very interested in purchasing. The first question I asked, they very quickly placed me on hold, I waited for a long time, then it disconnected. Called them back, told them what happened, they didn't even apologize. Asked them another question, they were very impersonable, and rude. Called back to try and reach a supervisor to let them know that their customer service department is very rude and didn't seem to even be care if they sold anything. They actually hung up on me!! Will never even consider purchasing from this company!!

A J Madison - horrible service and 30-40% charged for order cancellation even when not delivered

This is my worst online shopping experience with AJMadison ever. Ordered a cooktop which was supposedly delivered in a week.

Even after 10 days, no one at AJMadison can tell when the product will be delivered. Supposedly they use a third party delivery company which is ***. They fool customer by saying this so that they can screw around the delivery and take no responsibility for that. Another trick they do is as soon as you place order, your order status turn to shipped.

Any order, if cancelled, after it has been shipped (may not mean that the product is really shipped and is on the way!) AJMadison will charge a restocking fee of 30 to 40%. Which is a robbery in itself.

In my case AJMadison charged 35% of the of the total order as restocking fee even though the item was never delivered even after 10 days. What a shabby business model!

Refused to take responsiblity for their error, deceptive customer service

And it just keeps getting worse...Since posting the last review, our appliances were delivered because AJ Madison wouldn\'t let us send them back as described above. On the AJ Madison site it clearly states to unpack your appliances and examine them to make sure they are in good condition before signing the delivery sheet.

After having read other reviews online of consumer who received damaged appliances from them but couldn\'t get a refund because they had already signed the sheet I knew I had to be ready to look my appliances over right away. But, when I started trying to unpack them, the delivery men began trying to make me sign the sheet right away, telling me I was only signing that I had received the appliances from the delivery company. It had nothing to do with the quality of the appliances or my rights with AJ Madison. I asked why, if that was so, the sheet he was handing me to sign had the AJ Madison logo and contact info on it.

His response? To say they had only been contracted to come for five minutes and, if I didn\'t sign instantly, they would have stayed overtime and I would have to pay them extra!

If AJ Madison is going to subcontract, they need to make sure these companies act in accordance with their rules and treat their customers well. The way these companies constantly contradict each other just sounds like a huge scam to me.

Ordering appliances off this company's website is a huge mistake. The contract their deliveries out to a third party so, if something goes wrong with the delivery, you can't get any help. We gave AJ Madison specific instructions about the phone number to call prior to delivery and then sent as an email confirming the number. However, the delivery company called the wrong number and, thus we missed the delivery. When questioned about this, both AJ Madison and their sub-contract delivery company blamed the other for the mix up and so neither would give us compensation (including re-delivering the appliances in less than six days). I called and spoke to a customer service rep three times about this issue and, each time was told (after being put on hold multiple times) that they were going to "look into it" and call or email me in a couple of hours, which never happened. I have also sent messages to their customer service email and received no response. Then, when they were supposedly going to get back to me, they called my husband on his phone to inform him they had rescheduled the delivery at a completely inconvenient time for us, showing they clearly had no intention of working on my problem at all. When I got very angry and said I would like to cancel my order for being treated like this, they informed me that I would have to pay all the return shipping and hefty restocking fee. So, I'm now stuck with useless appliances (the guy who was supposed to hook them up was scheduled to come five days after delivery not six) that I can't even return. Also, they seem to close very early and, thus, are even harder to reach. I realize they're based on the east coast but they do service the whole country so being closed by 3pm central time seems a little unreasonable.
